Sea temperatures in the sun-kissed beaches of Gran Canaria rarely drop below 19 All year round, it sustains an average temperature of around 23 Boasting one of the best weather conditions in the world for outdoor adventures, especially by the sea, there is simply nothing you can t do on this beautiful island! It is considered by many as the perfect destination for a lot of action in the sea.


Scuba Diving

Some of the popular scuba spots that simply should not be missed are the marine reserve of El Cabr off the east coast at Playa del Cabr Pasito Blanco with its ideal conditions for underwater photography, or the intriguing diving sites of La Isleta in the northeast of the island and Sardina in the northwest. These spots are known for the fascinating sights of subtropical fish, sinister shipwrecks and dark caves on a universe so deep and mysterious.


Deep-sea Fishing

The best harbors to go deeper than the usual for that awesome catch are Puerto de Mog Pasito Blanco and Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico has more than 50 deep-sea fishing world records to boast of. The species to be found off the coast in these areas are primarily some varieties of tuna, marlin, sword fish and occasionally, some big sharks.


Sailing

When you feel like exploring the wonders of the sea into the far unknown, there s no better way than to go sailing. Some well-known sailing centers in Gran Canaria are Las Palmas , the site for start off of the famous annual Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). At the south coast are Puerto Rico, Pasito Blanco, Arguineguin and Puerto de Mog . Gran Canaria has the best practicing conditions as well as some local sailing clubs. Plus, you can easily find a school here to teach you the ropes of sailing.


Windsurfing

The windsurfing havens of Playa de las Canteras in Las Palmas and G in the northwest corner will literally raise your hair with this extreme sport. It not only caters to the players themselves but also to the watchers. A good spot for observing some windsurfing action are Pozo Isquierdo and Playa de Vargas.
