Weather

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has the best climate in the World! It’s no joke, proven up to the last digit.

To support this, a study was conducted by Thomas Whitmore, director of investigation of the University of Syracuse (U.S.), and whose findings were published by Consumer Travel Publications in 1996, entitled "Index of the Most Pleasing Climates.” In there Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is declared as the city with the best climate in the world. This conclusion was arrived at after scrutinizing analyses of 600 towns throughout the world based on their popularity as a tourist destination and their climatic changes during an entire year.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s climate, as an island, is determined by the influences brought about by its geographical situation, including the trade winds and the ocean currents. Due to these, the climate remains warm, without the sudden temperature rises, allowing you to enjoy a temperature that ranges between 18 degrees in the coldest month, usually on February, and 23 degrees in summer, with the temperature only rising up to 25 degrees as the maximum degree of heat.

Though the temperature remains relatively stable, this does not prevent you from wearing your winter clothes and your bikini at the same time. How so? It’s simple: The temperature in a given place of the island does not vary, but the temperature in the different places of the island varies. This is such that, you can enjoy the beach, the sun and the sand even in winter, and at the same time ski and enjoy the snow at the mountain peaks of the island! And even better, the peaks are found only 40 or 50 kilometers from the coast and 1.950 meters above sea level. You certainly must not miss this island, for in just one trip you’ll get the pleasure of both snow and sand!

So, do you want to know how the “best climate of the world would be like”? Before going to the island itself, here’s a quick preview of average temperatures on a monthly basis.
